I have been so inspired by the quilts that have been flooding the Runway on Sewing Mamas lately. Seriously beautiful work. That said, I have no patience for that sort of thing. Luckily there is the Serge as You Go Baby Quilt! I made this last year, or maybe it was the year before, for my grandmother and just loved it. Super easy and fast.
Well when my brother and sil got married in 2006, I bought this collection Italy, France, wine -inspired fabric to make them a quilt as a gift. Of course, it didn't get done. Amazing how time passes. Anyway I finally made them theirs and it looks great, even my husband likes it! It will be their Christmas present this year.

I love your serge as you go quilt...I want to make a baby quilt and want to try that technique for the first time and have only found one online site that explained the technique. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the 'picture' in my mind: the layering the sewing, the opening, the repeat of those.
Do you have any online instructions (maybe with pictures?) on how to do that or know of a place that does? Thanks so much for your help. I do alot of sewing as a "Dorcas" ministry but am self-taught!
Sorry, I've been out of it and haven't updated. Hopefully you'll read this. I'm guessing you found the same website I used, www.secvac1.com. It has no pics, just directions for the baby quilt. What helped me was just to lay all the pieces out how they would be sewn and play with them until I had the "a-ha!" moment. When I make another I'll try and do a sew-along.
